Chilean Poetry Library Pablo Neruda

biblioteca_sebastiana1Opened in July 2010, to commemorate the 106th anniversary birthday of the Nobel Prize and our country's bicentennial, the  chilean Poetry Library Pablo Neruda in Valparaiso, is a contribution from the Pablo Neruda Foundation to the chilean culture. The library is next to the Tourist Information and Cultural Center in the  museum house La Sebastiana.

The library specializes in contemporary chilean poetry. Preferably contains articles published from 1986 onwards, by authors such as Raúl Zurita, Oscar Hahn, Rafael Rubio, Hector Hernandez and Manuel Silva Acevedo, among many others. It also has classic chilean poetry as Vicente Huidobro, Pablo Neruda, Gabriela Mistral, Pablo de Rokha, Enrique Lihn and Jorge Teillier.

The collection contains approximately 2500 volumes. It is a fairly complete library in this specialty. "We made a great effort to acquire publishing catalogs of all currently published poetry books in Santiago and regions. We will continue trying to contact some editorials we have not had access, "says Darío Oses, Director of the Library of the Pablo Neruda Foundation.

The Library is open access. Features works of reference and loan. In addition, collections of literary journals such as: Trilce, Nerudiana, Air, Journal of Literature, and Journal of the Pablo Neruda Foundation, among others. There are also essays and critical studies of Chilean poetry. All these publications can be searched using a digital catalog of computers available for this purpose.

Opening Hour: Same as the museum house.
